has anyone been to the Blue Chair restauarant in Carrum?I love the joint - great food, friendly service and a rustic atmosphere. legend has it the place used to be a second hand furniture shop and they started dabbling in selling coffee and cake for the browsers. when they started selling more lattes and wicked slices than tables and chairs - they changed the focus of the business and have never looked back.
has anyone been to see the Australian Impressionism exhibition at the national gallery? i loved the art but not some of the people who were obviously there to be seen at the latest “in” exhibition. what is it about an art exhibition that brings out a kind of cultural snobbery in people?

I am still reeling after the Oscars - how predictable! I can’t believe Babel didn’t win Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress - a bloody disgrace. As for Jennifer Hudson of Dreamgirls getting the nod over two excellent performances from Babel actresses - all I can say is the Academy members needs a good shake up before they vote next year. Dreamgirls was a yawn! No wonder they dragged it out of Australian cinemas quick smart after it opened - it was a theatre production masquerading as a film, without any fine tuning. While I am on my soapbox - I thought The Queen was basically a pretty ordinary telemovie with lots of stereotypes and very little substance or depth.

Does anyone else miss those dazzling days of disco - you know the days of flared pants, body shirts and platform shoes? We gyrated to classic songs like Disco Duck; Yes Sir, I Can Boogie and The Rivers of Babylon - ahhhhhh the memories come flooding back. Bring back disco in a BIG way - that’s what I say - it’s a mongrel without it.
